What is the difference between coaching and counseling?

Coaching is a strengths based model where you are not participating in therapy or therapeutic interventions, but rather you are receiving guidance and support in the development of skills to help achieve an immediate goal.

Counseling can absolutely focus on immediate behavior changes, but also encompasses diagnostic assessment and evaluation, treatment planning, clinical interventions, and psychotherapy that addresses mental illness. Counseling can be covered by insurance.

Self-pay rates are $150–$200 per session, depending on the clinician and service. Relationship therapy is offered on a self-pay basis.
